Janet Sterling Johnson, the Director of Cross Culture Church’s Firm Foundation Preparatory Academy, is a native of Atlanta.  From being an honor student in the Atlanta Public School System to a cum laude graduate of Spelman College, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (Piano Performance) and post graduate training from Georgia State University. Shortly after graduation, Mrs. Johnson started her teaching career in the Atlanta Public School system as a choral director and Music Instructor for elementary students.

In April, 1981, Ms. Johnson became the Music Director for the Cross Culture Church, formerly known as Abundant Life Church. There she continuously and faithfully serves as choir director, song writer, composer and orchestral arranger for the CCC band.  She is also founder and instructor of Music to His Ears Conservatory, her very own program of private lessons for students, young and old, on any instrument.

In 1994, Mrs. Johnson started a new phase of teaching. Then this mother of three began homeschooling her children.  She taught all three children Godly principles and every subject they would need to succeed. The love and patience in teaching paid off in the form of three successful children with Bachelors (3) and Master Degrees (2).

In 2005, Mrs. Johnson began teaching in the DeKalb County School system. She later became the Director of Performing Arts at a local private school. There she developed a music program complete with a band, orchestra and chorus for students K3 through 12th grade.

In August of 2010, Mrs. Johnson, alone with three other teachers stepped out on faith and started Firm Foundation Early Learning Academy, currently known as Firm Foundation Preparatory Academy. She utilized the same principles she used in homeschooling by establishing an almost ‘one on one’ teaching atmosphere and zeroing in on a student’ strengths while building their weakness. She has successfully developed an affective curriculum and teaching environment that caters to students from pre-kindergarten to the ninth grade. This program is complete with Biblical studies as well as music, Spanish, art and physical education.

Mrs. Johnson has also established awesome afterschool and summer camp programs. They are S.T.E.A.M based including tutorials, project-based learning, robotics, renewable energy, math, chess clubs, and private music lessons.

These successes would not be possible without the support and love Mrs. Johnson receives from her beloved husband, James Johnson. Their love and affection continues to grow since December of 1980.
